About us
Founded in 1972, the Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. Thanks to the help of our members and supporters we now care for more than 1,000 woods, covering 20,000 hectares (50,000 acres). Access to our woods is free.
Ancient woodland supports more species than any other UK landscape, however it faces many threats, including developments, like new roads and airports expansions and, what we believe is its greatest threat, climate change. By acquiring woods and woodland sites, campaigning for better protection of woodland and working in partnership with others, we aim to protect and restore the UK’s precious woodland heritage to its full glory.
We want to see:
• No further loss of ancient woodland
• The restoration and improvement of woodland biodiversity
• The creation of new native woodland
• An increase in people’s understanding and enjoyment of woods
We have over 180,000 members UK-wide who share our concern. Their support is essential to help save woods under threat and enable us to undertake ambitious and important projects.
You can help us continue this vital work by purchasing gifts through this website. All the profits from the sale of these products go directly to the Woodland Trust, helping us ensure that the special peace and beauty of our native woodland will still be here for future generations to enjoy.
